Book Week Dressing Up Day

We have all had a fabulous week of book related activities, culminating in our dressing up day today.  I have particularly enjoyed reading to all of the children throughout the week and seeing how much they love to hear a great story. A big THANK YOU for visiting our Book Fayre, for the efforts made in helping children with their costumes today and to those of you who were able to join the children this afternoon to share a favourite book.  A really lovely way to finish off this half-term.  Finally, a big THANK YOU to all of the adults in school for making a big effort to dress up for the children.

Year 1 History Off The Page

On Monday 23rd January, Year 1 had a day all about toys from the past. They had the opportunity to explore a range of old toys, take on the role of an archaeologist, categorise their findings and make their own toys of choice. We had lots of fun and the children really enjoyed this experience. After talking to the children, some of their quotes were as follows:

‘I liked digging for the toys’.
‘None of the toys used electricity and it was fun’.
‘My favourite toy was the cup and ball’.
‘It was the best day ever!’
‘Our parent helpers worked very hard today!’

A big thank you to our parent helpers who were superstars! We really appreciated you giving up your time to support us. THANK YOU also to Mrs Shane, Mrs Carter and all of the adults in Year 1 for preparing such a fabulous day of learning for the children.

New Windows and doors!

Many of you will have noticed the great progress that has been made with our project to replace the windows and doors throughout the school since before Christmas and will be as pleased as we are with the dramatic difference it has made.

Woodland Project

Our Woodland Project is finally underway

Our Woodland Project is finally underway!  On Friday 6th January we welcomed a digger to school to clear a path for the fencing to be installed.  An enormous THANK YOU to
Mr Polley and Mr Rattigan (Dad and Grandad to Frankie & Grace) for allowing us the use of a digger and driver for the day on Friday - you are both SUPERSTARS and we are very grateful for your kindness.

On Monday 9th the fencing work began.  We were helped once again by a small army of parent volunteers who helped to clear brambles and branches along the stretch of Little Wheatley Chase where the new fencing is to be installed.

We are all SO excited about this project which will create a fabulous outdoor learning environment for our children.   Watch this space for further updates as we will be counting on your support to further enhance this area.
